I am not really a coffee or a tea person, which many people find weird. I love both, depending on the situation. When I need to focus I can’t drink coffee because it makes me feel quite jittery (and quite frankly drunk). Lately, I have been really into matcha because it gives you a little bit of caffeine and is also delicious! At cafes, matcha can be quite expensive and also not that tasty usually with lots of added sweeteners you wouldn’t realize! That’s why I have created this naturally sweetened matcha latte which can be made and enjoyed in the comfort of your own home!
Matcha
Matcha is a powder made from finely ground green tea. It has a subtle earthy taste and makes great lattes! Matcha is great because it has caffeine just like tea and coffee but is also a nutritional powerhouse. Fun fact: it has 137 x the antioxidants as green tea, as well as many other nutritional benefits. This is because it is made from grinding the whole green tea leaf, rather than just the leaves. Why Blend?
To make matcha you normally need a matcha “whisk”. You must first dissolve the matcha in hot water form it into a paste and then make the tea. This can be quite time consuming and expensive, which is not ideal especially on the mornings you need matcha the most! By blending it, you can mix the matcha and make the latte all in one step!
Where to find?
You can find matcha in any health food store, many tea shops and most bulk stores. It can be quite expensive (I find it cheapest at the bulk store), however a little goes a long way. As you can see only 1 tsp is needed at a time. For example I bought $10 worth of matcha in the fall and I still have about half it left (and I use it quite a bit)!

This is a great idea! I love using date as a sweetener but never thought about using it in matcha latte.

what is the alternative to matcha powder if it is not locally available?
