Green juice: very trendy, very healthy, usually very expensive or very messy. I am definitely not one for juice cleanses (or any cleanse) but I do enjoy vegetable juice as a refreshing snack or a way to get some extra greens in! However buying these at a store is extremely expensive and most are upwards of $10 a bottle. Buying a juicer for your house is also expensive considering they only do one thing and can be extremely time consuming and messy! This is my favourite method to make homemade green juice without a juicer! It’s quick, mess free and saves a whole lot of $$!
Start by blending all your ingredients in a high speed blender.
Squeeze the juice through a nut milk bag until just a pulp remains in the bag.
Pour the juice into a glass to enjoy! Like I mentioned below, juice obtains most of it’s nutrients right after juicing. If you would like to save it for later store in a sealed contained for up to 24 hours. I often do this so I can bring it to work!
What to do with the veggie pulp?
This website has some great suggestions! I have not tried any yet but the burgers and dog treats look interesting!
What juicing is not:
- The same as a smoothie: you are not eating the full fruit or vegetable, therefore it will not be as filling and you’re missing some of the nutrients. The nutrients are absorbed right into your blood stream rather than slowly releasing. If you are feeling like a smoothie check out these: Matcha Colada, Berry Acai Smoothie Bowl
- A meal replacement: drinking something cleansing and nourishing is not the same as a cleanse! Only drinking green juice and starving yourself is not good for everyone, and you will be missing out on essential nutrients.
What juicing is:
- A refreshing and healthy snack
- A great way to pack in extra vegetables: Because you are removing the fibres, you are able to fit in more than you would a smoothie.

- Green:
- 2-3 Stalks of kale
- Handful of romaine lettuce
- 1 celery stick
- ¼ small cucumber
- 1 pear
- ¼ lemon wedge
- ½ inch knob of ginger
- 2 Cups of water (or coconut water)
- Red:
- 1 steamed beet
- Juice of 1 orange or 1 grapefruit
- 1 apple
- 1 Carrot
- ½ knob of ginger
- Optional: greens, cucumber
- 2 Cups of water (or coconut water)
- Add all juice ingredients to a high speed blender. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the thick juice through a nut milk bag (or cheese cloth) into a bowl. Squeeze out the bag so a thin juice remains in the bowl and you are left with just vegetable pulp in the bag.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy!
Thanks, let me know if you try it! That juicer also looks great 🙂
