Vegan green smoothie guide

My breakfast every morning for the past 5 years (even before I was a vegan) – I have gotten smoothies down to a science! This Green Smoothie Guide shows my go-to formula!

Green Smoothie Guide:

RIPE frozen banana – This is integral to the sweetness and the texture of your smoothie! Peel your bananas and freeze in a container the night before. The riper the better – banana bread ripe.

Blending Tip – Add to the top of your blender (furthest from the blade) so that it pushes all the other ingredients down. This allows the blender to warm up with softer un-frozen ingredients and blends the hard ingredients better!

Greens – Best way to get extra veggies in without even tasting it! Start with 1 handful and work your way up! Avoid bitter greens such as arugula and leaf lettuce

Seeds – Add some protein to your smoothie! If you are having trouble blending, blend seeds with water or plant milk first, then add the rest of your ingredients!

Extra – Feeling funky? Try adding some extra vegetables and superfoods! Suggestions in the chart!

Blenders:

My Blender: Vitamix – quite expensive, but very durable, can blend just about anything, and amazing customer service (they replace for free for 8-year warranty) – if you are an avid blender I definitely recommend!

Alternative: Nutri-ninja – only about $80 and blends smoothies, dips & sauces very well! However I’m not sure how long it lasts at this quality as I only used for a few months.
