6 Sustainable Swaps for 2019 (Other than a reusable straw)!

Healthy vegetable homemade green juice without a juicer

It’s the month of resolutions! And even though it’s a little late, no time like the present. These are some swaps I made (or am trying to make) this year to produce less waste! I have linked all the products I use which can easily be found on Amazon.

By the way… reusable straws are a GREAT swap, I just thought I would post some lesser thought of items! If you don’t have one you should definitely invest! You can get them at different shops but I’ve also linked them here!

1. Loose Leaf Tea

Instead of throwing out tea bags, loose leaf tea is a great option! You can buy a tea pot, mug, or travel mug with a steeper. Or a portable ‘tea ball’ to go in any mug! I keep one at my desk and try to use it as much as possible! You can get loose leaf teas at specialty stores such as David’s Tea or even the bulk store!

2. Reusable Baking Mat

A great alternative to parchment paper! Also helps you cook with less oil and you don’t have to remember to buy parchment paper all the time.

3. Dryer Balls

An alternative to dryer sheets! It’s the little things!

4. Beeswax Wrap

Use instead of saran wrap to wrap food (great for lemons and avos) or to put over bowls/containers to keep food in the fridge! Even if you are just chilling your cookie dough!

5. Plastic Free Tampons

Skip the plastic, if you can…

6. Reusable Produce Bags & Bulk Bags

These have been game changer for me! They are so easy to store in your purse or grocery bags if you need to pick something up. I also find they keep your produce way nicer in the fridge!

Things I am having trouble giving up/Not Waste Free:

Frozen fruit

Bulk spinach

Grapes

Tofu

Plastic Free razors & blades

Thrift shopping – although I do a little, I find it very difficult (especially being the least fashionable person in the world).

Homemade beauty products (i.e shampoo, tooth paste, face wash)
